Joyce Terhaar was a top newsroom leader at The Sacramento Bee for two decades, her last seven as executive editor and senior vice president. Under her leadership, The Bee focused on investigative and data reporting, and its journalists were awarded nearly every industry honor. Terhaar was a board member for the American Society of News Editors, now called News Leaders Association, and regularly wrote about media issues and First Amendment rights. Now semi-retired, she edits climate change news for CalMatters, a nonpartisan, nonprofit journalism venture in Sacramento dedicated to coverage of California’s public policy and politics.
